DON'T FORGET: CHILYMPICS, This Sunday !!!

Written by jared hendrix on October 10th, 2005

There are high expectations for the 6th Annual Lip Rippin’ Chilympics Chili Cookoff Sunday, October 16, at the Hot Fish Club in Murrells Inlet.

The weather will be sunny and upper 70′s, the prizes are getting bigger, and we have more entries this year than ever before. Throw in a beautiful view, live music (10 Toes Up, Bonghi and Kingston (reggae), and Kid Drew), the Little Miss Red Hot Chili Pepper Contest and the newly added Waiters Race, and it adds up to a very entertaining Sunday afternoon. This year’s grand prize for the “Chili Master” is a full-day fishing excursion for six on a 34′ private charter boat owned by John & Wayne Strickland, which includes captain and crew, gear, bait and fuel (everything but tipping): a $1,000.00 value!
In addition, we will have a raffle for a sea kayak donated by Surf The Earth Surf Shop of Pawleys Island.
The event begins at noon, and lasts until the chili pots are empty.
This year’s event promises to be the best cookoff yet, and all of our chefs are very secretive about their recipes (which means you will be probably be tasting some of the best and most unique chili recipes ever).
There will be six categories of chili (vegetarian, hottest, most original, Best Restaurant, People’s choice, and Best Overall), and these chilis will be judged by a panel of experienced and celebrity judges.
All participants receive free t-shirts, and our first and second place winners will receive “Chilympic” medals, trophies and great prizes from our sponsors.
The event is free and open to the public. Bring the kids, bring the dogs.
And by the way, its not to late to enter. For more info, call Bruxanne at 333-2034, or email us at Surfridermb@yahoo.com.
