You know when you paddle out into the surf and your buddy tells you “You missed it” or “You should have been here yesterday”? Well, if you did not make it to this year’s Chilympics, you missed a great time.
The 2005 Lip Rippin’ Chilympics had its greatest year yet, with a record crowd, a record fundraising effort, beautiful weather, chilin’ music, and absolutely awesome chili (of course).
This year’s “Chili Master” title was claimed by John Rizk of the Pawleys Island Tavern, with his “Bayou Dragon’s Breath II: Return of Gator”.

- Absolutely perfect weather (as usual): sunny, mid 70′s, no wind, beautiful full moon on the creek at end of event.
- Awesome custom-made trophies this year from Andrew Wilson of the CCU Art Dept.
- No one fell into the creek (we don’t think).
- All dogs got along well again this year (even Monster)
- This year’s event raised over $4,000 for the Surfrider Foundation – an all time high!
