Earthday Festival 2006

The Horry Parks and Recreation Department, along w/ volunteers from the Grand Strand Surfrider Foundation and the M.B. Intermediate School, will host the 2006 EARTHDAY FESTIVAL, Saturday, April 22, from noon until 3:00pm at Doug Shaw Stadium (33rd Ave. North, behind the MB Recreation Dept. on Oak Street). Come celebrate Earth Day with fun, food, music, entertainment, & more! And it’s absolutely free!

Come celebrate Earth Day with fun, food, music, entertainment, & more! And it’s absolutely free!

The event will feature a Rock Climbing Wall, the Laser Tag arena(inflatable), the “Adrenaline Obstacle Course” (inflatable) and a Moon Bounce (inflatable)! There will also be carnival games (made from recycled material), environmental educational exhibits, and an Arts/crafts studio which shows students unique ways of using recycled materials.

The crowd will also be entertained w/ live music from Dave Freeman, Shamalam, and Big Popper! Free Pepsi drinks will be provided, and pizza and other food will be for sale.

It’s a free event for the entire community! All proceeds from the event will benefit the Surfrider Foundation. The first 750 kids will receive free gift bags.

EDUCATIONAL EXHIBITS INCLUDE:
Ripley Aquarium, Alligator Adventure, Horry County Solid Waste Authority, Waccamaw Watershed Academy, City of Myrtle Beach – Fire Truck, SC State Parks, Playcard Enviromental, Horry County Waccamaw, National Wildlife Refuge, and Surfrider Foundation-Storm Drain Project
