First Grand Strand Surfrider Scholarship Awarded

Grand Strand Surfrider is proud to announce the first recipient of their Volunteer Scholarship, CCU student Dan Jolles.  He is a senior Business Management/Pre-Law major at Coastal in the Class of 2010.  He has been volunteering for our chapter for 2 years.

Grand Strand Surfrider Foundation Volunteer Scholarship

(New or continuing students)

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, students must meet the following criteria:

1. Must be admitted and enrolled full-time as an undergraduate student at Coastal Carolina University;

2. New freshman applicants must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative high school;

3. New transfer applicants must have a minimum 2.5 collegiate GPA; and

4. Current CCU students must have a minim 2.5 CCU GPA.

*Preference will be given to individuals who have, or currently are, a volunteer (30 hours or more per year) for the Surfrider Foundation, either locally or in their home state.

This scholarship award varies and may be up to $1,000 per academic year. The award is for one year. To be considered for renewal, students must reapply and maintain a minimum 2.5 CCU GPA. Renewal is neither automatic nor guaranteed; recipients must reapply for consideration. The successful recipient will be selected by the University Scholarship Committee.
