Continued efforts need to be directed toward the marketing plan and scholarship project that will be supported through the license plate fundraising. Adam shared the CCU Surf Club T-shirts that were sponsored by Surfrider Foundation and the local surf shops. In exchange for sponsorship of the club, CCU Surf Club members will volunteer their efforts at all Surfrider events. Luau: Jared reported that he will contact members individually to create committees for day of event activities.
Braden Prate was the winner of the anniversary logo contest. He will be awarded $100 for his design. Advertising with Surge, Natural Awakenings and the Myrtle Beach Herald has been secured for the summer season. The chapter will aim to advertise events, projects, etc. as well as use the space for public education on a variety of topics. Zach has finalized the new website. The new address is http://surfridergrandstrand.org/ To e-mail the new website use the following address: mail@surfridergrandstrand.org Tom Roth with Horry County Stormwater Management was in attendance and shared some the projects with which his department is involved. He asked for Surfrider to provide volunteers to support and carry out projects funded by his department. Interested was given to his request as well as the reality that our chapter often lacks volunteers to manage the projects/ events which we currently host. Future discussions will provide more details to Surfrider regarding specific projects for which Tom needs volunteers and at that time the feasibility of our involvement will be judged. Barb McFarland presented a line of organic, biodegradable products for the home by Shaklee. Barb provided samples of a household cleaner to present members. Her products may be ordered at http://www.shaklee.net/barb-troy The next meeting will be held at Balsa Bill’s Surf Shop on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 6:30 p.m.
