Urgent!! Please sign this petition against seismic testing by 4/15!!

Urgent!! Please sign this petition by 4/15!!

http://oceana.org/en/our-work/climate-energy/seismic-airgun-testing/overview

The Obama Administration is currently considering a proposal to allow seismic testing in the Atlantic Ocean, in an area twice the size of California—from Delaware to Florida. After delaying the environmental review process three times, the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management finally released their final version of the proposal. Now we have until the first week of May to gather public input.

Not only is seismic testing the first step toward East Coast drilling, and the inevitable oil spills that will follow, but seismic airguns are incredibly disruptive to marine wildlife and fish. The Department of Interior estimates that more than 138,000 whales and dolphins could be injured or killed by seismic blasting in the proposed area.

Check out this short video <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_pTWSWR7Ox0>,

Or read our report <http://oceana.org/sites/default/files/reports/Seismic_Airgun_Testing_Report_FINAL.pdf>.)

We’ll be circulating the letter until April 15, and delivering it to President Obama, Interior Secretary Jewell, and BOEM, and we’d love for your organization to sign on.

23rd Annual Spring Tide
A Day for the Inlet
Twenty-three years and going strong, Spring Tide is South Carolina’s biggest and longest-running one-day community clean-up. Join in to clean up the creek and streets of Murrells Inlet. The day begins with an invocation at 9:45 am at Morse Park Landing (next to the Hot Fish Club) in Murrells Inlet. Volunteers can check in at the Hot Fish Club to receive street assignments for clean-up. Workers head out at 10:00 am to start picking up the trash. Everyone is invited back to the Hot Fish Club at 1:00 pm for the “Best Damn Chowder Cook-off” and light-hearted festivities and live music to celebrate our hard work. Over fifteen restaurant chowders will be available and the chowder is free to all our workers. Bring your boats, boots, bug spray, glove and your love of the Inlet. It’s a go — Rain or Shine. Dress appropriately. Call 843-357-2007 for more information.
